JOB DETAILS:

 

Reporting directly to the Associate AD for Sports Medicine, this position directs program administration, supervises staff, and provides expert knowledge and leadership with an expertise in strength and conditioning for a competitive intercollegiate program in support of fielding a competitive team, fostering a positive student-athlete experience, and maintaining regulatory compliance. In addition, this position will have oversight and scheduling responsibilities for the SAC Wellness Center and Jockey Sports Performance Center.

Position Title: Head Coach ¿ Strength & Conditioning

Employment Type: Full-time 12-month position

Reports To: Associate AD for Sports Medicine

Full Time Pay Range: $48,000-$53,000
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Certified for CPR/AED 
  • Must be SCCC or CSCS certified by the NSCA 
  • 1-2 years of experience with strength and conditioning coaching, training or sports performance. 

Preferred:

  • Master's degree
  • 3 years of experience with strength and conditioning coaching, training or sports performance. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Key Job Responsibilities:


¿ Responsible for the overall management, leadership and execution of the strength and conditioning program. 
¿ Collaborate with sport coaches to design and execute programming and schedule team workouts for each sport.
¿ Provide continual education of student-athlete skill development and mental/motivating techniques for competition.
¿ Designs and implements strength and conditioning programs, which include power, strength, speed, agility, flexibility, nutrition, and conditioning for assigned team
¿ Ensures safe and correct execution of exercise techniques.
¿ Monitors, documents, and reports athletes¿ progression, including strength, speed, power and explosion metrics, to all athletes and coaches.
¿ Collaborates with athletic training staff in development of rehab protocols for injured athletes as well as development of alternative training methods for injured/rehabilitating athletes.
¿ Oversight of the strength and conditioning center (Jockey Sports Performance Center) and the SAC Wellness Center, including facility schedule, equipment inventory and maintenance, safety and risk management, and supervision of other employees. 
¿ Commitment to operating all aspects of the program in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations. 
¿ Attend staff meetings, compliance education sessions, and development opportunities. 
¿ Consistently demonstrate a positive team player attitude. 
¿ Execute all responsibilities in accordance with the NCAA, UW-Parkside, University of Wisconsin System, and UW-Parkside Foundation policies and procedures.
¿ Represent the athletics department through collaboration with a variety of campus groups.
¿ Represent UW-Parkside as appropriate regionally and nationally with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and the NCAA. 
¿ Consistent with NCAA Bylaw 11 and institutional procedures, Coach understands and agrees that if Coach is found in violation of any NCAA or conference legislation or fails to report a violation, he/she shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.
